Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre following her arraignment over alleged cyber-related offences.

Okorie was reportedly arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department and subsequently transferred to Abuja by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.

Confirming the development, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi disclosed that the actress was taken into custody by federal cybercrime operatives, although details of the charges have not yet been made public.

Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed that Okorie was charged to court on Wednesday and remanded. In a series of social media posts, he criticised the speed of the process, describing it as an abuse of power and urging authorities to follow due legal procedures. He vowed to travel to Abuja to monitor the case and push for her release, warning that human rights organisations were paying attention to the situation.

Sources within the entertainment industry suggest the case may be connected to Okorie’s long-standing public feud with fellow actress Mercy Johnson, which escalated last year after Okorie made controversial claims about Johnson’s health and character, sparking intense backlash online.

As of the time of reporting, the police have not released an official statement detailing the specific allegations against Okorie.
