Atiku Abubakar’s Son and Daughter Tie the Knot in Abuja Ceremony
Two children of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar were married on Friday in a ceremony held at the National Mosque, Abuja, drawing family members, close friends, and prominent dignitaries.
Atiku announced the marriages in a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page, describing the occasion as one that gave him “immense pleasure” and thanking guests who attended and supported the celebrations.
His daughter, Hafsat Atiku, was given in marriage to Umar Farouk Imam, with General Aliyu Gusau, a longtime associate of the Abubakar family, standing as her representative. His son, Abubakar Atiku Jr, also tied the knot with Asma’u Abdul’aziz Nyako, with the marriage conducted by Alhaji Kwairanga Jada, another family friend.
The former vice president noted that the unions would further strengthen longstanding ties between his family and those of Admiral Murtala Nyako and Kashim Ibrahim Imam, describing both families as close allies.
“I have no doubt that these marriages will further strengthen the longstanding family ties established with my older brother, Admiral Murtala Nyako, and my friend, Kashim Ibrahim Imam. I am thankful to all guests who graced the occasion and supported making this day a reality. I congratulate my children and their spouses and wish them a happy marriage,” Atiku said.
The double wedding ceremony has since attracted widespread attention, with well-wishers congratulating the former vice president and the newlyweds on the unions.
