Barry on Target Again in Everton Comeback
Thierno Barry continued his fine form with his fourth goal in five Premier League matches as Everton recovered from a flat first half to draw 1-1 with Leeds at Goodison Park.
Leeds controlled the opening period and went ahead on the half-hour when James Justin smashed in his first goal for the club after Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed Anton Stach’s low cross.
The visitors could have doubled their lead before the break, with Calvert-Lewin striking the post on his return to Merseyside.Everton improved markedly after the interval following a tactical switch and were rewarded when Barry lifted Idrissa Gueye’s low delivery into the roof of the net. Gueye later went close to a winner, rattling the bar from range, but neither side could find a decisive goal.
The result leaves Everton winless in five at home, while Leeds remain without a league victory on the road since September and have now drawn six of their last nine league matches, trimming their cushion above the relegation zone to six points.
