Chelsea Complete Historic Comeback to Stun West Ham
Chelsea produced a dramatic second-half turnaround to beat West Ham United 3-2 in a pulsating London derby, becoming the first side in Premier League history to overturn a two-goal half-time deficit and win, a result that lifts them into the top four.
West Ham were dominant before the break and took full advantage of a sluggish Chelsea display.
Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring inside the opening quarter-hour, before Crysencio Summerville doubled the lead with a powerful finish as the visitors repeatedly exposed the hosts down the left.
The mood at Stamford Bridge was toxic at the interval, but Chelsea were transformed after the restart.
Joao Pedro pulled one back with a close-range header before sustained pressure finally told, as Marc Cucurella smashed home the equaliser after Malo Gusto’s header came back off the bar.
Chelsea kept pushing and were rewarded deep into stoppage time when Pedro’s cut-back found Enzo Fernandez, who swept home the winner to cap a remarkable comeback.
West Ham’s night ended badly as Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off late on.
The win sends Chelsea into the top four, while West Ham suffer a seventh defeat in their last eight league London derbies.
