Fullkrug Header Keeps Milan in Inter’s Slipstream
AC Milan moved to within three points of Serie A leaders Inter after grinding out a 1-0 home
win over Lecce, extending their unbeaten run to six matches and keeping the title race alive.
With Inter having beaten Udinese a day earlier, Milan dominated possession from the outset but
found clear chances hard to come by against a disciplined Lecce defence.
Rafael Leao had a goal ruled out for offside, while Christian Pulisic twice tested goalkeeper
Wladimiro Falcone either side of the break.
The pressure finally paid off in the closing stages when substitute Niklas Fullkrug nodded home
from close range after a pinpoint cross from Alexis Saelemaekers, rewarding Milan’s
persistence.
Lecce offered little going forward and Milan saw out the contest comfortably, stretching their
unbeaten home run to 10 games.
The Rossoneri remain firmly in the Scudetto hunt, while Lecce stay in the relegation zone and
are still without a win over Milan since 2006.
