Ijebu Ode, December 12, 2025 — The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu Ode has officially dismissed claims made by popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as KWAM 1, asserting his membership in the family. This announcement comes as the family prepares to nominate the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

In a formal letter responding to KWAM 1’s application to vie for the Awujale stool, the ruling house stated that the form submitted by the musician lacked signatures from authorized family representatives, rendering his claims to the family lineage “null, void, and of no consequence.”

A family spokesperson, speaking to the media following a meeting on December 11, confirmed that KWAM 1 does not belong to the Fusengbuwa ruling house. “We just concluded a family meeting with all the olori ebi, the heads of the Jadiara and Fusengbuwa families, and it has been established that he is definitely not one of us,” the representative stated.

The spokesperson further clarified that KWAM 1 was not provided with Awujale nomination forms, which had already closed by the time he began his claims. “How can someone who has never participated in our family meetings or supported us suddenly come forward at the peak of our family’s glory and assert ties that do not exist?”

The representative emphasized that the family is committed to maintaining the integrity of their lineage. “Wasiu Ayinde is attempting to rewrite history, but this is 2025; he cannot pull the wool over our eyes. Those with fabricated lineage will not be part of our endeavors,” they concluded.

The rejection of KWAM 1’s claims has sparked conversations within the community, as the search for the next Awujale continues amid rising tensions and public interest.
