Fifth seed Lorenzo Musetti delivered a standout performance, defeating American Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 at Rod Laver Arena to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals for the first time.

He will face 10-time champion Novak Djokovic next.Despite a tough five-set match against Tomas Machac in the previous round, Musetti showed no signs of fatigue, breaking Fritz’s serve twice in the first set.The Italian showcased his skill and confidence, securing the second set by winning three consecutive games and breaking early in the third to pressure Fritz.

The ninth seed fought hard but ultimately fell short, as Musetti served out the match impressively.Djokovic had already advanced to the quarter-finals after his fourth-round opponent, Jakub Mensik, withdrew due to an abdominal injury.
