Mensik Stuns Sinner to Reach Doha Semi-Finals.

Jakub Mensik produced the biggest win of his young career by defeating world
number two Jannik Sinner 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 event in
Doha.
The 20-year-old Czech matched the heavy favorite from the outset, edging a tight
first set in a tie-break with fearless serving and aggressive shot-making.
Sinner responded strongly to take the second set 6-2, capitalising on a dip in
Mensik’s intensity.
But the underdog roared back in the decider, breaking early and holding his nerve in
key moments to seal a statement victory on Sinner’s serve.
The win improves Mensik’s record against top-five players to 4-2 and top-10
opponents to 9-8.
He is now unbeaten on the ATP Tour this season and has won 10 consecutive
matches.
Mensik will next face Arthur Fils, who defeated Jiri Lehecka, for a place in the final.
