Ramsey Strike Sinks Spurs as Newcastle Deliver Under Pressure.
Jacob Ramsey scored the goal that mattered as Newcastle United earned a rare away
win and flipped the pressure firmly onto Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank.
Both sides came into the night under strain, but Newcastle showed greater composure.
They struck just before the break when Malick Thiaw reacted quickest after Guglielmo
Vicario could only push out Anthony Elanga’s cross.
Tottenham responded after half-time through Archie Gray from a corner, briefly lifting the
mood inside the stadium. That lift vanished almost instantly.
Anthony Gordon drove into the box and set up Ramsey, who swept home first-time
finish for his maiden Newcastle goal.
Newcastle saw out the closing stages to climb to 10th and give Eddie Howe breathing
room.
Spurs drop to 16th, with discontent growing and the pressure on Frank deepening.
