Top seed Aryna Sabalenka continued her dominant run at the Australian Open, brushing aside American teenager Iva Jovic 6-3, 6-0 to reach the semi-finals in Melbourne.

The Belarusian, chasing a third title at the season-opening major, proved too strong in searing heat at Rod Laver Arena and will next face either Coco Gauff or Elina Svitolina for a place in the final.Jovic showed flashes of the form that carried her to a breakthrough tournament, but Sabalenka’s power and relentless pressure told, particularly in a one-sided second set.

The world number one, now on a 10-match winning streak, secured her 14th career Grand Slam semi-final and a fourth straight in Melbourne. The defeat ended an impressive run for the 18-year-old Jovic, the youngest player in the women’s top 100, who had announced herself earlier in the tournament with a series of eye-catching victories.
