On Thursday, the Senate confirmed a list of 64 ambassadorial nominees sent by the President, Bola Tinubu, among whom are former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani Kayode and ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri.

The approval was in consideration of the adoption of the report presented by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which reported that all of the nominees were properly screened and found fit for appointments.

This happened barely 48 hours after the upper legislative chamber confirmed three non-Career Ambassador nominees: Lateef Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke from Oyo State; thus making the total number of confirmed Ambassadors 67.

Those cleared on Thursday are former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; former Special Adviser on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri; former Presidential Aide, Ita Enang; and former senator, Grace Bent. Others are the former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu; former Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Altogether, the list of confirmed nominees includes 34 career ambassador/high commissioner and 30 non-career ambassador/high commissioner nominees.

Unveiling the report before the committee, the Chairman, Senate Foreign Affairs, Senator Sani Bello, APC, and a Senator from Niger State, said that all the nominated persons had no petitions filed against them, adding that all had been found fit for the position based on their qualifications, experience, and behavior.
