SINNER POWERS INTO MIAMI QUARTERFINALS.
World No.2 Jannik Sinner advanced to the Miami Open quarterfinals with a hard-
fought 7-5, 7-6(4) win over American Alex Michelsen.
The second seed, chasing the “Sunshine Double,” overcame a stern test, firing 15
aces and recovering from a second-set deficit to seal victory in straight sets.
Sinner will now face Frances Tiafoe, who defeated Terence Atmane 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Elsewhere, Spain’s Martin Landaluce stunned Sebastian Korda 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-4,
while Jiri Lehecka beat Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2.
Tommy Paul eased past Tomas Etcheverry 6-1, 6-3, and will face Arthur Fils, who
edged Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4.
Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo defeated Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-3 to set up a clash
with Alexander Zverev, who beat Quentin Halys 7-6(4), 7-6(1).
