The Tinubu Vanguard has committed to opposing any protests against the new tax legislation set for February 9, labeling these demonstrations as the actions of “unpatriotic groups intent on undermining national progress.”

In a statement released on Monday, the organization asserted that the new tax measures are crafted for the benefit of Nigerians and are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategy to avert economic disaster.

The group accused opposition parties of allegedly financing unemployed youths to take to the streets in an effort to thwart essential reforms. The Tinubu Vanguard cautioned young people against letting themselves be “exploited for trivial rewards” to disrupt what it termed a legitimate national recovery initiative.

Additionally, the group emphasized its determination to thwart any efforts to destabilize the nation under the pretense of protest, urging Nigerians to prioritize reform instead of chaos.

It is noteworthy that the Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organisations (CNDCSOs) has officially informed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, of its intention to hold a peaceful, nationwide protest against the newly implemented Tax Law, citing its negative socio-economic effects on oil-producing regions. This protest is scheduled for February 9, 2026.
