Yellow Submarine goes under as Mbappe fires Real Madrid to LaLiga summit
The Yellow Submarine went under at La Ceramica as Kylian Mbappe’s double carried
Real Madrid to a 2-0 victory and the top of the LaLiga table.
A tight and scrappy first half offered little rhythm, with both sides cancelling each other
out and clear chances at a premium, Arda Guler forcing the only save of note while
Villarreal threatened more in flashes than substance.
Real Madrid struck almost immediately after the restart when Mbappe reacted quickest
to a loose ball inside the area, turning the contest on its head and draining belief from
the hosts.
Villarreal pushed late without reward, and Mbappe put the result beyond doubt in
stoppage time, calmly converting a Panenka penalty to seal the points and underline his
growing influence.
The win sends Los Blancos to the summit, leaving Villarreal below Atletico Madrid and
Barcelona knowing victory is now required to reclaim top spot.
