Arsenal Respond in Style with Derby Destruction After Wolves Frustration.
Premier League leaders Arsenal answered their midweek setback in emphatic
fashion on Sunday, thrashing Tottenham 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to
restore their five-point lead over Manchester City.
Stung by Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Wolves, where they blew a two-goal lead, Mikel
Arteta’s side responded with authority as doubles from Eberechi Eze and Viktor
Gyokeres sealed a ruthless derby victory.
“When people are doubting, you have to stand up,” Arteta said. “We showed what
we are made of.”
It was Arsenal’s biggest away league win at Tottenham since 1978 and only the
second time since 1934-35 they have won both league derbies in a season by three
or more goals.
Tottenham remain just four points above the relegation zone, with interim boss Igor
Tudor admitting Arsenal were “too much for us”.
