Aston Villa moved closer to the Europa League semi-finals with a 3-1 first-leg win
over Bologna.
After surviving early pressure, Villa struck before the break as Ezri Konsa headed
home following a goalkeeping error.
The visitors tightened their grip early in the second half when Ollie Watkins finished
calmly after a defensive mistake.
Bologna pulled one back through Jonathan Rowe, but Watkins struck again late on
to restore Villa’s two-goal cushion.
The result ends Bologna’s long unbeaten home run in the competition and puts Villa
firmly in control ahead of the return leg.
