Barcelona Go Top as De Jong Ends Drought in Levante Win.
Barcelona returned to the summit of LaLiga on Sunday with a commanding 3-0
victory over Levante, responding to consecutive defeats by moving one point clear of
Real Madrid.
Hansi Flick’s side, beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Girona in the
league, made the perfect start when Marc Bernal slid home inside four minutes.
Frenkie de Jong then scored his first goal since January 2025, meeting Joao
Cancelo’s cross with a well-timed volley to double the lead.
Levante threatened early through Carlos Alvarez and Jon Ander Olasagasti, but
Joan Garcia stood firm in goal.
Barcelona remained in control and sealed the win late on when Fermin Lopez fired in
off the post for his 11th goal of the season.
The result marked Barca’s 12th win in 12 LaLiga home games, while Levante stay
19th, seven points from safety, after a fourth straight defeat and a 17th consecutive
league loss away to Barcelona.
