Algeria came from behind to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Jordan in Group J,
ending the Asian side’s first-ever World Cup campaign.

Jordan stunned the Desert Warriors when Nizar Al Rashdan fired them ahead
against the run of play before halftime, but Algeria responded strongly after the
break.

Nadir Benbouali levelled the score with a header from Riyad Mahrez’s corner before
Amine Gouiri completed the comeback late on, with VAR confirming the decisive
goal.

The result keeps Algeria’s qualification hopes alive ahead of a decisive clash with
Austria, while Jordan is eliminated despite a spirited display, will conclude their
tournament against Argentina.
