Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has commiserated with the family of John Anzaku following the death of Cecilia Anzaku, the party’s door-to-door women’s coordinator.

Obi, who visited the family residence in Gidan Mangoro, Abuja, on Tuesday, described the late coordinator as a dedicated mobiliser who committed her time and energy to a worthy cause.

“She was a great mobiliser, fully dedicated to service. While her passing is painful, we take solace in the fact that God gives life and takes it according to His will. May her soul rest in peace with the Lord,” Obi said.

Speaking on behalf of the family, former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, expressed appreciation for Obi’s condolence visit. Maku, who is the brother of the deceased’s husband, described Cecilia Anzaku as a remarkable woman well-regarded by various women’s groups.

“The large turnout of sympathisers is evidence of her impact in politics and in society. We pray that the legacy she has left behind will be sustained and built upon,” Maku said.

The late politician will be laid to rest on Friday in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
