The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State has hailed Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate, as a steadfast defender of the people’s mandate.
The commendation was made by the State Chairman of ADC, Mr. George Ashiru, in Lagos on Tuesday, following Rhodes-Vivour’s official defection from the Labour Party to the ADC on Saturday.
Ashiru described the move as a significant step toward strengthening opposition politics in Nigeria, adding that the party was delighted to welcome him into its ranks.
“Rhodes-Vivour has consistently proven himself as a champion of the electorate, from his days as a Lagos West senatorial candidate in 2019 to his candidacy in the 2023 governorship election under the Labour Party,” Ashiru said.
He added that the politician’s decision to join ADC reflects patriotism and commitment to building a coalition of Nigerians seeking credible governance.
“ADC, the platform for patriots and citizens who have long endured governance challenges, gladly receives him and extends the same invitation to other like-minded Nigerians,” he said.
Ashiru further noted that Rhodes-Vivour’s move had brought many former Labour Party members in Lagos into the ADC, helping to build a stronger opposition force and a viable alternative for the Nigerian people.
