Former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 general elections, Dumebi Kachikwu, has faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognising former Senate President David Mark as the National Chairman of the party.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Thursday, Kachikwu described INEC’s action as “irresponsible,” accusing the commission of disregarding ongoing court cases concerning the party’s leadership.

“What we saw from the INEC chairman was another irresponsible act from the outgoing chairman of INEC.

“It is a norm that when you have cases that are in court, you respect those cases and avoid doing anything that will affect their outcomes. The courts are sitting on our matter with David Mark and others next month, and Nigerians will see the rulings after the courts sit,” Kachikwu said.

Kachikwu argued that Nigeria continues to face poor governance because of recycled politicians who, according to him, have consistently failed to provide good leadership and would further damage the country if allowed back in power.
