The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and political lines to embrace love and unity as a foundation for building a better country.

Obi made the appeal on Sunday during a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“I am here to pay my respect to the Olubadan-designate before his installation.

“My visit is about Nigeria, about selfless leadership that is committed to turning our society around. Can we unite and love each other to build a better country? We have no other country except this one,” Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor praised Ibadan’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s political, social, and economic life and expressed confidence that Ladoja’s experience as a senator, governor, and businessman would strengthen the Olubadan stool.

In his response, Oba Ladoja described his appointment as a call to service rather than a symbol of glamour.

“Many people erroneously believe the throne is for glamour. The time of glamour is gone. It is now about service and what you have to offer the people,” he said.

Obi was accompanied by Lagos LP governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and party chieftain Yunusa Tanko.

On the same day, PDP lawmakers Sina Oyedeji and Adebayo Adepoju also visited Ladoja, describing him as a father figure and urging him to continue guiding leaders across the country.
