Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa of Zamfara State has declared that his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) will cost President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over one million votes in the 2027 presidential election.
This was contained in a statement released on Friday in Gusau by Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Senator Marafa Group and leader of the Senator Marafa Support Group.
Maikatako said Senator Marafa’s resignation had re-energized his political base, citing an overwhelming outpouring of solidarity from supporters across the country who are ready to follow him into his next political move.
“I can confidently say that Senator Marafa’s resignation from the APC has revived his political base. The flood of calls I have received from supporters nationwide shows their determination to stand with him as we move to the next level of political engagement.
“Let me also reaffirm Senator Marafa’s bold and prophetic statement: ‘By the special grace of Almighty Allah (SWT), we will deduct not less than one million votes from the President’s tally in the next general election. This is not an empty boast but a well-planned, strategic move powered by a committed and disciplined political structure. Time will vindicate us, and those who doubt will soon regret underestimating the strength of a people-oriented movement.’
“This wave of support reflects Senator Marafa’s enduring popularity, credibility, and the deep trust people have in his leadership. Many prominent individuals and grassroots leaders have reaffirmed their loyalty and declared their readiness to align with the new political direction he represents.”
Maikatako further explained that Senator Marafa’s decision to quit the APC was not a personal choice but a collective decision made in consultation with his supporters.
He stated that Marafa left the APC because President Tinubu failed to deliver on key campaign promises, particularly the pledge to tackle insecurity in Zamfara State. He reminded Nigerians that Senator Marafa had served as the State Campaign Coordinator for Tinubu in the 2023 elections and was instrumental in securing votes for the APC in Zamfara.
“Unfortunately, that loyalty was not reciprocated with concrete action,” Maikatako said.
He concluded by announcing plans to launch “one of the most historic presidential campaigns in Nigerian political history,” promising a political revolution that would challenge the current order and restore integrity to governance.
