The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has extended deep sympathies to all those, individuals, families, and businesses, affected by the fire at Afriland Towers and Emab Plaza in Lagos, and has pledged to ensure that compensation is paid promptly to valid claimants.
In an official statement, the association expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property, affirming its solidarity with those impacted as they seek to recover and rebuild.
The NIA emphasized that it has already identified member insurance firms that issued policies covering the affected buildings.
For claims under valid and subsisting insurance policies, the association assured that the responsible insurers would fulfill their obligations without undue delay.
Moreover, the NIA used the occasion to encourage the broader public and business owners to embrace insurance as a critical mechanism for managing risk and enhancing resilience.
It underscored that having insurance coverage is not optional in an age marked by unavoidable disasters.
