Lando Norris has revealed he will face internal repercussions from McLaren until the end of the Formula 1 season following his first-lap collision with team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Two weeks after the incident, which saw the pair bang wheels while battling for third place, Norris confirmed the team held him accountable after a post-race review.
The Briton explained that while the contact was minor, “there was potential to try and avoid it,” adding that “repercussions” had been agreed internally.
Neither driver disclosed the nature of the sanctions, though Norris stressed the issue was resolved privately within the team.
Piastri said his team-mate had taken “responsibility” and that the talks were “very productive,” confirming that McLaren’s racing framework would remain unchanged.
The Singapore clash marked the second on-track contact between the pair this season, following a minor collision in Canada earlier in the campaign.
Despite tension in the aftermath, both drivers insisted their relationship remains strong as they continue to fight for the championship.
With six races remaining, Piastri leads Norris by 22 points heading into this weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.
