Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly apologised for his involvement in a viral altercation with comedian Mr Jollof aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
In a video shared on Instagram, VDM took full responsibility for the disruption, admitting he “acted irresponsibly” and expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and crew members. He acknowledged that the incident led to a delay that may have affected travellers with urgent commitments, including medical emergencies and business engagements.
“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed,” he said. “I really want to apologise. Looking back at what happened yesterday, I really didn’t like that part… I acted irresponsibly.”
While assuring Nigerians that such behaviour will not be repeated in public spaces, VDM admitted he could not guarantee it would never happen again—only that it would not occur in environments where it would hinder people’s movement, such as flights or public transport.
The clash, reportedly fueled by an ongoing online feud, drew widespread backlash and renewed calls for accountability among public figures. Comedian Mr Jollof has also issued an apology, saying his actions were in self-defence.
The airline is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
