Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted the club will not rush into signings during the January transfer window, stressing that any additions must fit a clear long-term plan.
Amorim admitted United are open to strengthening the squad but made it clear that caution will guide their approach.
“We have space to have more players, but it is a very important thing in our club that we have a plan and we need to bring players that we know,” he said.
The Portuguese coach added that uncertainty over a player would be enough to halt any move.
“It’s hard to know for sure that everything is going to work, but we need to be certain of the players that we bring. If we are not sure, it’s better not to bring anyone and to work with the players that we have,” Amorim explained.
He also stressed that the club is determined not to repeat past mistakes, revealing alignment with the board over transfer policy.
“We cannot do the same mistakes that we did in the past and we need to survive these moments,” Amorim said, pointing to the demands of players returning from international duty and European competition.
