Rybakina Shocks Swiatek to Reach Australian Open Semis
Elena Rybakina produced a stunning display to knock out world number two Iga
Swiatek and reach the Australian Open semi-finals with a 7-5, 6-1 victory on
Wednesday.
The fifth seed recovered from early serving struggles to take control of the contest and
will face Jessica Pegula for a place in Saturday’s final. It is Rybakina’s first Melbourne
semi-final since her runner-up finish in 2023.
The 26-year-old has now won 18 of her last 19 matches, underlining her strong form,
while the defeat ended Swiatek’s latest attempt to complete a career Grand Slam.
