Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has called on law enforcement to take decisive action against individuals vandalizing government property.

In a post on his X account on Sunday, Onanuga expressed his outrage over a viral video depicting the destruction of materials at a federal road construction site.

He stated that those who undermine public infrastructure should face severe consequences. “Vandals and thieves should be shot on sight. They represent the lowest form of citizenship,” he asserted.

The video featured workers wearing reflective jackets from the Federal Ministry of Works, who described how suspected vandals removed and stole iron starter bars—commonly known as shoulder rods—from the ongoing reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ilesa/Ife road.

An official noted that although security personnel were present, the suspects managed to extract both accessible and completely severed sections of the metal rods.

This incident has intensified concerns regarding the rising trend of vandalism aimed at critical public infrastructure nationwide.
