Over 80% of Candidates Score Five Credits as NECO Releases 2025 SSCE External Results
More than 80 per cent of candidates who sat for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External recorded five credits and above, following the release of the results by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The development was announced on Tuesday by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, during a press conference at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Speaking in a video shared on NECO’s official X handle, Prof. Wushishi declared the results released and informed candidates that they could access their scores on the council’s website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration numbers.
He revealed that sixteen subjects were examined, with a total of 96,979 candidates registered, comprising 51,823 males (53.43 per cent) and 45,156 females (46.56 per cent).
Of the total, 95,160 candidates sat for the examination. In English Language, 93,425 candidates sat, and 73,167 (78.32 per cent) obtained credit and above. In Mathematics, 93,330 candidates sat, with 85,256 (91.35 per cent) achieving credit and above.
Overall, 68,166 candidates (71.63 per cent) obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, while 82,082 candidates (86.26 per cent) recorded five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
Overall, the performance reflects a strong outcome for the 2025 SSCE External examination, with NECO attributing the results to improved candidate preparedness and effective examination management, while encouraging stakeholders to sustain efforts aimed at further strengthening the quality and integrity of the nation’s assessment system.
