Award-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first African female artist to secure seven entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her song “What You Need” debuted at number 93 on the chart, tying her with Burna Boy and South African rock group Seether for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries among African artists.

Tems’ latest feat adds to her growing list of global achievements. In 2022, she made history as the first African artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with her collaborative hit “Wait for U” featuring Future and Drake.

Further boosting her chart presence, J. Cole’s “Bunce Road Blues” featuring Tems and Future is set to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 next week, potentially extending her record-breaking streak.

The milestone underscores Tems’ rising influence in global music and her continued impact on international charts.
