Last year, I nearly lost my position as Chief of Staff to President Tinubu. During the Obasa impeachment crisis, the President summoned me to his study in Abuja and asked if Desmond Elliott was my associate. I confirmed that he was.

President Tinubu then expressed concerns that Desmond might be linked to the issues in the Lagos State House of Assembly. I immediately defended Desmond, but the President insisted he had intelligence suggesting otherwise.

Following our meeting, I reached out to Desmond to inform him of the President’s concerns and advised him to distance himself from the group if he was involved. Three days later, the Director General of the DSS contacted me, saying my name was being linked to the impeachment saga and that I was supporting Desmond.

I explained to the DSS DG that I had spoken to Desmond, who denied any involvement. I then urged Desmond to publicly refute any claims regarding his participation in the impeachment saga, but he has yet to make that statement.
