President Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Embrace Tax Responsibilities.
In a compelling address at the Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the critical role of taxation in nation-building, stating that Nigerians who refuse to pay taxes should not consider themselves citizens unless officially exempted.
Tinubu highlighted the discrepancy between citizens’ desires for improved infrastructure, healthcare, and educational facilities, and their reluctance to contribute to the funding of these essential services through taxes. “Everyone wants good roads, hospitals, and development,” he said, pointing out that these amenities rely on the financial support of the citizenry.
The President underscored that taxation is vital for fostering economic growth and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare and other public services. He called on all Nigerians to recognize their civic duty to contribute to the nation’s development, reinforcing that such contributions are foundational to a thriving society.
Tinubu’s remarks serve as a reminder of the importance of collective responsibility in advancing Nigeria’s infrastructure and public services, urging citizens to fulfill their obligations for the greater good of the nation.
