Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has appointed veteran broadcaster Sulaiman Aledeh as the new managing director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS). This announcement was made by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua.
For Aledeh, this appointment is particularly meaningful as it marks a return to the station where he began his career as a student intern back in 1999. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Benin and a master’s degree in humanitarian and refugee studies from the University of Lagos.
With a wealth of experience spanning numerous esteemed broadcasting stations both in Nigeria and abroad, Mr. Aledeh is a highly educated and professional journalist. The Chief Press Secretary praised him as a significant contributor to the media landscape, noting, “He has made substantial contributions to renowned international news channels, including Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK.”
Currently, Aledeh hosts various news programs at Arise News and shares his commentary on Classic FM. During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), he served at Ebonyi Radio, where he became the first corps member allowed to read the station’s main news bulletin. His career continued to flourish at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, where he created and presented influential programs.
His journey in national television commenced with one of Africa’s leading media companies, where he anchored key news programs on TVC and Channels Television. His time at Channels TV further enhanced his skills in producing engaging content, creating memorable promotional material, and covering major events such as the 2011 and 2015 general elections.
Additionally, Aledeh is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
