A scene of mild drama unfolded at the FCT High Court when Judge Maryann Anenih abruptly exited the courtroom following an influx of supporters for Yahaya Bello. These supporters of the former Kogi State governor, who has been declared wanted by the EFCC, overwhelmed the court premises, causing significant disruption within the courtroom.
This incident came on the heels of breaking news earlier this week, when Bello reported to the EFCC office after being declared wanted in April. On that day, he faced a 19-count charge related to alleged money laundering amounting to N110 billion.
After the judge’s departure, Bello instructed his supporters to leave the courtroom, and they complied swiftly, as if under a spell.
Security personnel struggled to manage the crowd, and many journalists found themselves locked out as tensions escalated. It remains unclear whether the judge returned to the courtroom to hear the ex-governor’s plea.
