Ipswich Town finally secured their first Premier League home victory of the season, defeating a struggling Chelsea side 2-0 in a thrilling encounter. The hosts took an early lead in the 12th minute when Liam Delap converted a penalty after being brought down by Filip Jorgensen, marking his first goal in seven matches.
Delap came close to doubling his tally moments later, but Jorgensen’s save kept Chelsea in the game.
Chelsea pressed for an equalizer, with Cole Palmer hitting the upright from a free kick and Joao Felix having a goal disallowed for offside after a prolonged VAR review.
Despite their dominance, the Blues couldn’t find the net, as Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton tipped another Palmer effort onto the crossbar.
The Tractor Boys capitalized on Chelsea’s mistakes after the break. Axel Disasi’s misplaced pass allowed Delap to set up Omari Hutchinson, who slotted home against his former club to seal the victory.
Ipswich’s triumph leaves Chelsea with just one point from their last three league games, as their struggles continue in a disappointing campaign.
