Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced a three-day period of mourning and prayer to honor the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Temitayo Oluwatuyi. Mr. Oluwatuyi passed away on January 4, 2025, while undergoing treatment following a car accident that occurred on December 15, 2024, on the Ife-Ibadan Road.

The governor made this declaration on Sunday in Akure, during a condolence visit to the late SSG’s wife and family, accompanied by members of the State Executive Council (SEC). Aiyedatiwa emphasized that Oluwatuyi played a significant role in the political landscape and governance of Ondo State, stating, “The history of the state cannot be complete without acknowledging his contributions.”

He announced that the mourning period would take place from Sunday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 7, in remembrance of the late SSG. “Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi lived a meaningful life and had a positive influence on many individuals,” Aiyedatiwa remarked.

During the visit, the governor connected with Oluwatuyi’s children who are residing abroad via video call, praising the virtues of the late SSG. He described him as a true gentleman who approached both his public and private life with grace and humility.

Aiyedatiwa offered prayers for the soul of the departed and assured the family of the government’s support. He expressed, “Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came into this world, fulfilled your divine purpose, and touched many lives. Your departure was unforeseen, but it was God’s timing for you to return home. May you find peace in the embrace of your Creator. Amen,” as he wrote in the condolence book.
