Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos, are gearing up for a historic qualification campaign for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, as CAF reveals the tournament’s roadmap.

The World Cup, scheduled for October 17 to November 8, 2025, in Morocco, marks a significant milestone as the first edition to be hosted in Africa and the first with 24 teams.

Fresh off their impressive showing in the 2024 tournament in the Dominican Republic, where they reached the knockout stages and won the Fair Play Award, the Flamingos are seen as strong contenders.

Their consistent performances over the years have earned them a bye into the second round of qualifiers, where they will face either Gabon or South Africa.

CAF’s qualification format includes three home-and-away rounds, starting January 10, 2025, with 28 nations competing for spots alongside host Morocco. The second and third rounds are set for March and April.

Should they progress, the Flamingos could face tough challenges from teams like Tunisia and Equatorial Guinea. With Africa hosting the World Cup for the first time, Nigeria aims to make their mark on the global stage once again.
