Novak Djokovic has advanced to the quarter-finals, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz in a rematch of the previous two Wimbledon finals. Djokovic secured his place by defeating Jiri Lehecka with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). However, he chose to skip the on-court interview following the match after a television reporter made fun of Serbian fans.
As Djokovic aims to surpass Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles, he expressed gratitude to the audience for their support but opted not to participate in the customary interview with Jim Courier. The Serbian player explained that his decision was a response to comments made by Tony Jones, a sports journalist from Australian Channel 9, who had recently ridiculed Djokovic’s supporters and made derogatory remarks about him. “A few days ago, a well-known sports journalist from the official broadcaster made fun of Serbian fans and directed offensive comments at me,” he stated.
