NAF Probes Alleged Killing of Civilian By Personnel In Kaduna Community

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday confirmed an incident involving its personnel and some civilians at  Unguwan Gangare, Barkallau community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State which left one person dead and some others injured.

Some armed personnel of the Nigerian Air Force reportedly invaded the community on Wednesday night and attacked the residents, shooting sporadically and beating them residents, during which one person was killed and others injured.

In a statement by its spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, the Nigerian Airforce admitted that the unfortunate incident resulted in injuries to some individuals, who are currently receiving medical care at the 461 NAF Hospital in Kaduna.

Akinboyewa also regretted the loss of life in the incident, adding the Air Force has reached out to the family of the deceased to express its condolences and to assure them of a thorough investigation and justice.

The Air Force said a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has already commenced, assuring that any personnel found culpable will face the full weight of the law in line with its commitment to justice and accountability.

“We deeply regret the loss of a life and have reached out to the family of the deceased to express our condolences and assure them of a thorough investigation and justice.

According to Akinboyewa, the NAF remains a highly disciplined and professional force committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct in all engagements.

He also urged members of the public to remain calm as they worked diligently to ascertain the facts and ensure that appropriate actions were taken.
