Governor Ademola Adeleke has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Ifon, Ilobu and Erin Osun communities following the escalation of communal clashes in Osun State. The violence initially erupted between Ifon and Ilob, spreading to Erin Osun on Saturday—displacing many residents. Numerous displaced persons including northerners were seen evacuating the conflict zones, with some boarding buses in the Okinni area.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke stressed that the curfew is part of broader measures to revive peace, including the deployment of a joint security task force and facilitation of peace talks between the warring communities. The governor assured residents of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property—adding that he has informed the presidency about the developments.

The statement also cautioned against the circulation of misleading information, alleging that opposition elements are distributing old videos of past conflicts to portray a false sense of insecurity in the state. The government urged the public to disregard such content—affirming that efforts to curb the situation are ongoing and that law enforcement agencies are fully mobilized to maintain order.
