The NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Major, while speaking to reporters on Saturday, asserted that no credible government would sit idly by while security threats spiral out of control. He emphasized that President Tinubu, as the nation’s Chief Security Officer likely acted on intelligence not available to the public.
Major underscored that the suspension of the state government created a dangerous vacuum, exacerbated by leaders who failed to mediate early and later resorted to criticism. He mentioned that Tinubu’s leadership which is exemplified by his controversial yet decisive subsidy removal demonstrates a willingness to make tough decisions in the national interest. The NNPP chairman urged political stakeholders to refrain from inflammatory comments that could escalate tensions—advocating instead for constructive engagement. He defended the role of Minister Nyesom Wike—arguing that personal interests should not override institutional responsibilities. True opposition, according to Major strengthens democracy only when it is focused on improving governance rather than outright condemnation.
