Senate President Godswill Akpabio has guaranteed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term is secured regardless of opposition efforts to challenge his re-election bid in 2027. Akpabio, while speaking at a special Iftar and Lent dinner organised by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja, expressed confidence in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) sweeping more elective positions nationwide in the next general election.
Lauding the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led PGF for hosting the event, Akpabio encouraged party members to remain united in pursuit of the party’s success. He reassured the National Assembly’s determination to strengthening the APC—underscoring the recent selection of a senator to lead the party’s campaign in Edo State.
Governor Uzodinma stressed the importance of collective effort in governance—asserting that party members must take ownership of the administration’s successes and challenges. He likened leadership to a “sweet and sour soup” that must be embraced despite its complexities.
Finance Minister Wale Edun underscored the economic progress under Tinubu’s leadership—citing reduced inflation, lower energy costs and a stable exchange rate. He affirmed the administration’s determination to supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
The event was attended by high ranking government officials including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, governors, lawmakers and APC leaders from across the country.
