PRESS RELEASE

March 29, 2025

On March 18, 2022 Waka Community International Foundation, Q-Life Family Clinic and Health Emergency Initiative announced to the world their collaboration aimed at contributing to the wellness and health of Nigerians and others.

Since 2022 and counting, we have been keeping our word. Today we are holding our 5th road walk titled “LET’S WAKA WITH Q-LIFE AND HEI”

Today’s walk however is the third version in honour of Dr Ade Alakija, a former medical director of Q-life Family Clinic. Dr Ade Alakija was also a pioneer member of Waka Community International Foundation and was Chairman of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) as well as a member of the National Executive Council of the NCF.

Dr Alakija wore many caps during his lifetime.

We made a promise to immortalize his name and we are delivering on that promise. We gave our word and we are keeping our word.

Today’s walk and the Free health check for interested participants and the public is driven by our conviction that since a healthy Nigeria is a wealthy Nigeria, it is worthwhile to inform, educate and persuade Nigerians as well as all residents of Nigeria and indeed the world, to take personal responsibility for their wellness by walking, eating right, hydrating well, getting enough quality sleep and for those above 45, some strength training to maintain muscle mass which is essential for aging healthily.

According to Waka Community International Foundation, the initiators of this collaboration, their 55,000+ members in 47 countries as well as in many cities in Nigeria, are encouraged to walk a minimum of thirty minutes daily and to eat healthy in small portions, drink lots of water and get adequate sleep so they will be fitter, leaner, healthier and ultimately happier.

Walking is the oldest and safest form of physical exercise and is non-discriminatory on grounds of age, gender, level of physical fitness or location. Walking is a low impact exercise and so is gentle on the knees and ankles. Walking also has many benefits such as helping maintain a healthy weight and helping lose unwanted and undesirable fat. Walking helps prevent or manage various conditions including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes. Walking also helps improve cardiovascular fitness. Walking contributes to clearing the mind and it boosts our moods thereby promoting physical and mental wellbeing.

We encourage everyone to walk indoors or outdoors depending on choice, safety or convenience. Walking is also inexpensive. One can walk bare feet indoors and on beaches. To walk outdoors require nice fitting and affordable running shoes. So what’s really stopping you from walking? You can visit the website www.wakacommunity.com for more benefits of walking. To further encourage walking for its physical and mental health benefits, there’s an App called Waka International App which rewards users for walking. Getting paid for walking is absoWAKAlutely wakamazing according to Waka Community International Foundation.

We thank everyone who has come out here today ( March 29, 2025 ) and also the many who couldn’t be physically here today, but are walking remotely and in solidarity in over 47 countries around the world. Thank you as you Waka with Q-Life Family Clinic and Health Emergency

Initiative.

Please remember to share your photos, videos and stats on the platforms so together we can keep changing lives one waka at a time.
