FG Announces Public Holidays for Eid-El-Fitr

The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This announcement was made by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In his message, the minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community for successfully completing the Ramadan fast. A statement from Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, revealed that the minister urged all Muslims to embody the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, highlighting the significance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a harmonious society.

Additionally, the minister encouraged all Nigerians to use this festive season to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity. He expressed hope that the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr would promote unity and cooperation among different religious and ethnic groups.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also called on citizens to celebrate in a safe and responsible manner while remembering the less fortunate through acts of kindness and charity, in line with the true essence of Ramadan and Eid.

On behalf of the Federal Government, he conveyed warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, praying that the blessings of this season bring happiness, success, and fulfilment to everyone.
