Dan Ndoye was the hero as Bologna ended a 51-year wait for Coppa Italia success with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in Rome.
Just days after losing to Milan in Serie A, Thiago Motta’s side responded in style to lift the trophy for the first time since 1974.
Lukasz Skorupski kept Bologna in it early on with a vital double save after a defensive lapse, denying Luka Jovic from close range.
That was Milan’s only shot on target in a first half where Bologna dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances.
The breakthrough came soon after the restart, echoing the recent league encounter but this time in Bologna’s favour.
Ndoye’s strike sent the travelling fans into raptures and proved enough to secure a famous win and end Milan’s 21-year Coppa Italia drought.
