SPURS SWEAT ON INJURIES DESPITE VITAL WIN IN RELEGATION FIGHT.
Tottenham Hotspur will assess the fitness of Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons after
both were forced off during a crucial 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Solanke was withdrawn before half-time with a muscular issue, while Simons later
exited with a knee problem, leaving manager Roberto De Zerbi with fresh concerns
in the middle of a tense relegation battle.
Despite the setbacks, João Palhinha struck late to secure a vital victory, ending
Tottenham’s long wait for a league win at Molineux, and keeping their survival hopes
alive.
De Zerbi admitted uncertainty over both players’ conditions, saying, “Solanke has a
muscular injury. I don’t know what level of injury, and for Xavi it’s a problem of the
knee, and we’re going to see in the next days, Monday or Tuesday.”
He added, “For Solanke, it’s not a big problem. I don’t know how many games we
lose him, but I would like to know the real situation of Xavi, because the knee is
always different than the muscular injury.”
Spurs remain in the relegation zone, two points from safety with four matches left, as
they prepare for a decisive trip to Aston Villa.
