Paris Saint-Germain made a dominant start to their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 4-0 demolition of Atletico Madrid in Pasadena.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a crisp strike from the edge of the area before Vitinha doubled the lead just before half-time with a composed finish after slicing through the Atletico backline.

Jan Oblak kept Atletico afloat with key saves, but the Spanish side’s hopes faded when Clement Lenglet was sent off for dissent in the second half.

Senny Mayulu added a third late on, and Lee Kang-in converted a stoppage-time penalty after a VAR-reviewed handball to seal the rout.

It was a ruthless performance from the European champions, while Atletico were left ruing missed chances and an avoidable red card.
