MOKOENA’S SCREAMER LIFTS SUNDOWNS TO CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GLORY.
Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. were crowned CAF Champions League winners after a 1-
1 draw with AS FAR Rabat in the second leg secured a 2-1 aggregate triumph in
Rabat.
The hosts took the lead through a penalty from captain Mohamed Hrimat, but
Sundowns responded before half-time when Teboho Mokoena unleashed a
thunderous strike from distance that crashed in off the crossbar.
Hrimat later missed another penalty as Sundowns held firm under pressure, with
goalkeeper Ronwen Williams producing a crucial save to protect the lead.
The result sealed a second continental crown for Sundowns and confirmed their
place at the Intercontinental Cup and expanded Club World Cup.
AS FAR were left to rue missed chances and spot-kick frustration in a tense final that
swung on fine margins.
