England have successfully defended their UEFA Under-21 European Championship title, defeating Germany 3-2 after extra time in a pulsating final in Nitra.
Goals from Harvey Elliott, Omari Hutchinson and substitute Jonathan Rowe sealed victory for Lee Carsley’s side, who avenged an earlier group-stage defeat to the Germans.
England’s vibrant start saw Elliott coolly open the scoring before Hutchinson doubled the lead from close range.
Germany fought back through Nelson Weiper’s header and Paul Nebel’s thunderous equaliser to force extra time.
But Carsley’s bold substitutions paid off, as Rowe headed home the winner with his first touch from a Brooke Norton-Cuffy cross.
England’s resilience and squad depth shone through in a tense finale, ensuring they lifted the trophy again and underlining Carsley’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s top youth coaches.
